Adventurous Things to Do in LA

Los Angeles, California. Home to scenic drives, beautiful beaches, and fantastic vibes. To some, Hollywood is the heart of the town. For others, it’s the food, the culture, and even the sun. Regardless, LA is a fantastic place to either live or visit, for there is always something to do or somewhere to be. Outdoor activities in Southern California, in particular, are a special treat. Not only is the weather sunny year-round, but there are also a ton of activities and excursions to choose from. Given how big the city is, the possibilities are practically endless!

For those wanting to take a trip to LA, or those currently living in LA that want new ideas on how to spend their weekend, check out the section below. Here, we’ve handcrafted a list of different outdoor activities in Los Angeles – all personal favorites. And remember, this is only a small list of adventurous things to do in LA. There are plenty of other exciting activities and experiences to be had; just remember to enjoy the moment and have fun!

Hiking to the Hollywood Sign

For those fitness junkies out there, this outdoor activity in Los Angeles is for you. LA has a multitude of hiking, biking, and running trails for you to enjoy. I mean, just look at all of the hills! One of the best, and more popular hikes, is hiking to the Hollywood sign. Now while you can’t get super close to the sign itself, the views are unbeatable.

Visiting the Observatory

Situated not too far from the Hollywood sign is Griffith Observatory – a celestial observatory situated at the top of a slope facing the Los Angeles basin. If you’ve seen the movie La La Land, then you should know exactly what this place is. Visiting Griffith Observatory is another awesome safe outdoor activity in Southern California, and just like the Hollywood sign, it’s a great place to visit if you want to see some fantastic views.

Beaches Galore

Out of all of the outdoor activities in Los Angeles, this is probably the most typical. But still, typical doesn’t mean not fun, for Los Angeles is anything but. Given the flat beaches and numerous sidewalks, LA’s beaches are great for not only swimming and playing in the sand, but for biking and rollerblading. Additionally, if you head on over to Venice Beach, you’ll find even more attractions and events. Here, you’ll find shops, skate parks, gyms, and even the occasional YouTube vlogger.

Whale Watching at Harbor Breeze

Speaking of the ocean, have you ever wanted to see whales, dolphins, and other beautiful sea creatures up close? Us, too! As one of the best possible excursions in Los Angeles, Harbor Breeze’s whale-watching boat tours gives you the opportunity to view some of the largest mammals on the planet up-close and personal. Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens

As another great excursion in Los Angeles, visiting the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens is a must – especially if you love animals. While visiting, not only will you be able to learn about all of the current conservation projects, but you’ll also get the opportunity to see a number of varieties of birds, monkeys, and reptiles, even some elephants, too.

Camping at Catalina Island

Who doesn’t love sleeping outside under the stars?
